Autour du musée des futurs de Gaza ; Futurismes et muséologies alternatives

Mucem - Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée

A symposium held at MucemLab in Marseille on June 1, 2022, bringing together artists, filmmakers, researchers, curators and museologists around the Sahab project and the idea of a museum of the future for Gaza.

During their residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, the HAWAF collective presented Sahab as a virtual reality museum in the cloud, imagined for a territory under embargo. The event placed this work-in-progress in dialogue with artistic and museological practices that use the grammar of possibilities to formulate a critical discourse about the present.

Conceived as both an artistic and scientific gathering, the symposium confronted multiple perspectives on futurism, museum forms, and speculative cultural institutions. It was coordinated by Marion Slitine and Aude Fanlo and organized by Mucem, the Cité internationale des arts, and the Institut Français, with support from Art Explora and several partner institutions.
