Hazem Al-Zomar

Hazem Al-Zomar (b. 1989) is a Palestinian visual artist whose work blends surrealism and symbolism to explore themes of identity, heritage, and emotional experience. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza (2014), and his practice focuses on reimagining traditional Palestinian symbols through a contemporary lens.

He has participated in group exhibitions inside and outside Palestine and has had multiple experiences addressing various humanitarian and national issues. He had a unique experience in art that began with the Contemporary Arts Programme organised by Eltiqa Gallery in 2003. The result was the birth of a symbolic character embodying the artist himself, with all his contradictions and circumstances, which he named ‘Solmaz.’

Hazem is currently working on a project that draws inspiration from Palestinian heritage symbols and reintegrates them into the surrealist school, giving them a special character and a new identity in the context of contemporary Palestinian art.
