Mohammad Alhaj, Evacuation Map, 2025
The concept revolves around the forced evacuation map's reflection on people's facial expressions, gestures, and state of mind, through an expressive colour palette with an emotional sense of place on their tired features. It also highlights the history of displacement and recurring displacement in Palestine from the 1948 Nakba to the present day, and the extent to which events in the past and present resemble each other.
This series of works was created for the Sahab Urgent Grant Programm 2025.
