Workshop with children about the Imaginary Museum
What it Means to Have a Museum in Gaza
Several workshops held between May, June, and July 2022, conducted in person and remotely with Gaza

Participants: groups of 10 to 15 children, in partnership with the association La Sierra Prod.
A visual arts workshops with a group of children focusing on drawing, video, and sculpture creation centered on the museum of their dreams. A series of workshops organized in partnership with La Sierra Production and Art Explora during a residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris in June 2022. The program introduced children to Gaza, the Sahab Museum project, and the idea of imagining a museum collectively.
In the first sessions, children learned about Gaza and drew their own visions of the museum. A later workshop connected children in Paris and Gaza by video, inviting them to ask one another questions and imagine what Paris might look like without museums, using natural materials to rebuild it together.
In another session, the children visited the Bourse de Commerce Museum and filmed artworks, while the facilitators recorded their emotions and interactions. In the final workshop, children produced artworks for the museum with Andres Burbano; the works were photographed using VR techniques and uploaded to the BavAR[t] application in collaboration with the Hawaf group and the app team.
Outcomes: Video edited by Salman Nawati using footage of children from Gaza and raw footage shot during the visit to the Bourse de Commerce in Paris. Photographs of drawings created at the Art Explora residency. 3D scans of the sculptures and audio recordings of the children who participated in the workshop with La Sierra Prod.
